How to Obtain a Florida Marriage License
Getting a marriage license in Florida is a straightforward process, but it’s essential to follow the necessary steps to ensure everything is in order. Both parties must appear in person at any county Clerk of Court office. You’ll need to provide valid government-issued identification, such as a driver’s license, state ID, or passport, and your Social Security numbers. If either party has been previously married, you’ll also need to provide the exact date of divorce or the date of a previous spouse’s death, if applicable. Florida residents are required to complete a premarital preparation course to waive the standard three-day waiting period; otherwise, the waiting period will apply. Non-residents are not subject to this waiting period. The fee for a Florida marriage license is $93.50, but this can be reduced if you take the premarital course. Once issued, the license is valid for 60 days, so your wedding ceremony must take place within that timeframe. Remember, the license must be returned to the Clerk’s office for recording after the ceremony.
